I Sprinkled This on My Carrot Bed – What Happened Next Was Shocking!

Every gardener dreams of growing big, strong, sweet carrots, but this is not always possible. However, don’t despair, today I will talk about a feeding method that will give you excellent results. This technique should be applied in June, distributing it among the rows. It will provide consistent nutrition to carrots throughout their growth cycle and will also significantly improve soil structure, which will have a positive effect on the development of the root crop. I learned this method from an agronomist friend, wrote it down in my gardening notebook, and use it successfully every year. Now I’ll share his secret with you.

First of all, we will need a plastic container in which we will mix several types of fertilizers. This approach is highly effective and saves time and effort. The first ingredient is mustard cake. It performs several functions at once: it perfectly loosens the soil, enriches it with nitrogen, humus and other important nutrients during decomposition and also repels the carrot fly. I use about a kilogram of mustard cake for two beds of carrots, and it’s enough.

The second ingredient is azofoska. In my opinion, this is the main fertilizer for absolutely everything in the garden, including carrots.

The potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen in this fertilizer are presented in a form that is easily absorbed by the root system and the granules are evenly distributed in our mixture thanks to the mustard cake. To do this, we need about half a kilogram of azofoska. And the last ingredient is ash. Experienced gardeners know that carrots love ashes. The ash will provide the roots of carrots with a complex of macro and microelements that favor the development of crops with large and sweet roots. Our mixture will need approximately 1 kg of sifted ash.

Now we are ready to mix all the ingredients. Take a plastic bowl and carefully mix the mustard cake, azofoska and ash. It is necessary to ensure an even distribution of each component. The prepared mixture can be applied between the rows of carrot plants. Don’t worry about the exact proportions because there aren’t any, I usually do it by eye. Fertilization should take place in June, when the plants have already taken root and have begun to actively grow. Distribute the mixture evenly among the rows, being careful not to apply it to the vegetation itself. Then, gently loosen the soil around the carrot plants to allow the mixture to penetrate the root zone.
